Reviews from across our programmes

"I came in knowing nothing about Python and wasn't sure how far I'd get. The Foundations course didn't oversell anything — it just gave me a clear path through the basics. The exercises were the most useful part; I couldn't have absorbed it by reading alone. Took me about seven weeks at a casual pace."

"The Bootcamp was harder than I expected — which is probably a good thing. The schedule kept me accountable in a way I never managed studying solo. My code review feedback in week four was pretty blunt about some bad habits I'd picked up, and that was exactly what I needed to hear. The third project was genuinely something I'm proud of."

"I was working full-time and needed something flexible. The one-to-one track meant I could schedule sessions around my work hours without feeling like I was falling behind a group. My mentor didn't let me gloss over the parts I found boring — data handling especially — and that ended up being useful. It's not cheap, but for me the personal attention was worth it."

"Solid course. What I appreciated most was that nobody promised me a new career at the end. I just wanted to understand how language models actually work — not at an abstract level, but well enough to read and follow the relevant papers. The Foundations course got me there, though I had to do some extra reading outside the course materials to fill a few gaps."

"I joined the Bootcamp with about a year of Python behind me and it was the right level — challenging but not impossible. The cohort format felt natural after the first week. I wasn't expecting the code reviews to be that specific, but they really were: comments on naming, on structure, on why a particular approach was going to be harder to extend later. That kind of feedback is hard to find in online courses."

"Three stars because I think I underestimated how much work was involved, which is partly on me. The material itself is good, and the feedback on my project submissions was helpful. I wasn't able to keep up with the Bootcamp schedule as well as I'd hoped given my work situation. If you can genuinely commit the time, I think the programme is worth it — just be realistic about that before you sign up."

Three learner journeys in detail

Not success stories in the sense of dramatic transformations — just honest accounts of what the experience looked like for specific learners.

The Starting Point

A marketing analyst in Bangkok with no programming background. Wanted to understand AI tools well enough to use them more thoughtfully at work — not to build them from scratch.

What They Did

Completed the Foundations course over nine weeks, spending around 4–5 hours per week. Found the data handling section difficult and took two extra weeks on that module before moving on.

Where They Ended Up

A working understanding of how language models are trained and evaluated, and confidence reading technical documentation. Not yet building applications — but considerably clearer on what's involved.

AJ

"The thing that helped most was being told upfront it would take effort. I wasn't expecting a quick fix, so I didn't feel disappointed when it turned out to be genuinely difficult." — Anchalee J., Bangkok

The Starting Point

A backend developer with two years of experience in Node.js, no machine learning background. Interested in building small AI-assisted features into web applications.

What They Did

Joined the Applied Projects Bootcamp after skimming the Foundations material independently. Completed all three cohort projects, receiving substantive feedback on two. The third project — a simple AI-powered classification app — was the most demanding.

Where They Ended Up

Three working mini-projects, better Python habits, and a clearer picture of where AI components fit in an application stack. Continuing to study independently after the Bootcamp.

PP

"The code reviews were direct, which is what I wanted. Not just 'good job' — actual observations about what the code was doing and why that could cause problems later." — Phumin P., Chonburi

The Starting Point

A data analyst with Python experience but no structured approach to machine learning. Studying while managing a busy job. Needed flexibility and a clear plan rather than a fixed schedule.

What They Did

Enrolled in the Mentorship Track and scheduled sessions twice a month. Worked through a personalised study plan covering model evaluation, prompt engineering, and basic fine-tuning concepts over four months.

Where They Ended Up

A more structured understanding of ML evaluation practices and practical experience building two small personal projects with mentor guidance. Progress was slower than originally planned due to work commitments — both they and their mentor adjusted the pace accordingly.

MT

"I appreciated that when things slowed down at work, my mentor just adjusted what we were doing rather than pushing me to stick to an artificial plan." — Montree T., Bangkok
